I have a friend who is into negative things like “end of the world” and conspiracy theories based on his religious beliefs.
1) I told him what he is doing is a subtle and desctructive behavior.
2) He has strong convictions his ways are part of his religious beliefs.
3) I can already see his actions has affected his family. His wife and daughter are depressed.
4) I told him it’s not good, yet he still continues this behavior. He says it makes him stronger dwelling on these things. He has a few friends who are into that stuff too.
Yet the negativity has affected the morale of his family as they can’t find work and daughter has bad grades.
I think he’s a generous friend and hate to lose a friend, yet this “bad habit” is very demoralizing and I don’t want it to infect my family.
I myself already picked up this habit out of curiosity and friendship, yet it’s made me depressed.
