How Can Jesus Be God and Die, When God is Immortal.?
Christians wrote about the death of God then about the life of him- Michael Tsarion
Well I leave the philosophical implications to others. The one thing that bothers me the most about this myth. John 3:16 the xtians love to quote–yet–if one knows that death is not permanent and clearly is just a tiny amount of time in the eternity these mythical deitys had existed–then–there is no sacrafice whatsoever–it was totally without meaning with respect to the word sacrafice. Act in a informative play might be okay–the only true sacrafice would have been if the mythical deitys son was put to death and stayed dead–that would have meant something. There is no sacrafice involved in a no-lose situation. Therefore the word love in john 3:16 means nothing as well–he could have loved, hated, or been ambivalent–and as there was no loss–no sacrafice–as the whole thing was a no lose situation–anything said would have worked just as well. It’s like aying I love you and I’ll give you a ring–but it won’t cost me anything at all. Doesn’t particularly show someone cares about you enough to actually work to give you something or sacrafice to give you something. A very large sham is my opinion

because he was in a human body. thats why he died.

Christian paradox #3,449.
The apologetic answer to this is that Jesus died as a man, but lives on as a God. Of course, if Jesus came back to life then he didn’t really die, did he? Where’s the great sacrifice in a 3-day coma?
Notice primoa1970’s answer. Jesus is 100% human and a 100% God. That equals %200 percent. Which is why delusional Christians need to be kept out of the educational system.

Jesus was executed by the Roman Colonial government for heresy. Not only did he claim to be God, he had a, possibly legitimate, claim to the throne of Israel, and he promoted peaceful resistance to Imperialist rule, refuting the Torah’s militancy. This last was why the priests among his own people were so pi$$ed at him.

Thats why He became a human and took the sins of the whole world upon Him. The wages of sin is death (physically, spiritually). That’s why there’s death in the world (physical death), and thats why there’s eternal hell (spiritual death).

Just more Christian confusion or "magic". They always expect to have their cake while eating it.
Like how could he be three things sometimes and one think other times? Or how could he be the son-of-god, god, and the holy ghost, die, go to his father, and then come back only to disappear?

Therein lays the miracle of Jesus’ dual nature:
Fully God and Fully man.
As a human, born to a woman, He was mortal.
As God, He remains immortal.
God in His mercy shows us that immortality is possible, therefore we have hope for a life in God.

Bingo….you get a prize too.
Someone immortal can be neither killed or hurt. Someone immortal can’t die….hence if Jesus was the immortal incorruptable God, he could not have died as a ransom for sins because it is impossible.
Jesus was exalted over the angels when his Father resurrected him to heaven and finally gave him immortality for his faithfulness. Hebrews 1, 1 Timothy 6:16….he was not immortal in his life in heaven before living on earth, nor in his human life.
Nor is the human (soul) immortal. Ezek. 18:4, 20-24.

(Luke 7:12) . . .As he got near the gate of the city, why, look! there was a dead man being carried out, the only-begotten son of his mother. Besides, she was a widow. A considerable crowd from the city was also with her. . .

Yep! it’s pretty mysterious. But then, a divine mystery would HAVE to be mysterious, wouldn’t it?
This problem shows up every time someone thinks that the story can be explained in its entirety, and all questions answered. But if God is in fact superior to us (more knowing, more understanding, more powerful) there is no reason for that to be the case.
The orthodox Christian teaching is that Jesus is, in fact, God, existed before the creation and participated in it, and exists eternally. However, He also became a human being and lived a human existence, one result of which is He got a lot of other people upset and they had Him killed. He was resurrected and ascended into heaven, concluding that human life which was interrupted but not finally terminated by His death. (We also believe that we will also be resurrected after death.)
He also went around praying to God as His Father ("Daddy" would be an even better translation of the word he used) and teaching other people to do so. This makes the understanding of God even more complicated; eventually the doctrine of the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost whom Jesus promised after His resurrection would come to his followers) was constructed to sort it out, and provide what explanation could be managed.
It took a few centuries and some major contention over the details to develp the explanation that far, and a fellow religious studies student once remarked to me that every time he thought he had fully understood it, he found he had simply reinvented another old heresy!
But the purpose of belief is not to claim complete comprehension; it’s to come up with enough understanding to guide your choices when you don’t really have enough proven knowledge to go on.

I recommend "The Mind of the Maker," by Dorothy Sayers, as a very good study of the doctrine of the Trinity by means of an analogy to the creative process. That approach is very helpful.
The Trinity is and has always existed even before creation. God the Son, as the second person of the trinity, assumed real human nature in the form of Jesus. Therefore, Jesus is BOTH God and man. His human nature is inferior to God and was subject to death. However, He did not lose His equal share in the Divinity while in the flesh. Only His human body died but was resurrected by His ever living Divine Nature. Although Jesus is, by Himself, God, He is not God all by Himself to the exclusion of the other two persons.
