Can you recommend some good books?

Looking for a few books to read, something along these lines:

1. TV Series Lost; Mysterious Island…
2. Interstellar war (similar to Mass Effect game)
3. Anglo Saxon times (other than Bernard Cornwell’s(read them already))
4. Something based on Michael Tsarion’s Ancient Astronaut theory
5. Akin to the theme of the Bioshock game (objectivism) other than Ayn Rand.

6 was going to be zombie related – I’ve already read World War Z though, thanks anyway.

For interstelar war you could try Ender’s game by Orson Scott Card. (And the sequels and companion books, some of them are too much for me, but the Shadow companion stories rock)

They’re about a kid in a future world after a war with bug like aliens. Every family is allowed 2 kids. Ender is a third, allowed only if the first two kits show promise for things the world needs, like a great military commander. Ender is sent to battle school. He’s small and everyone assumes he’s stupid. He gets in trouble for not following orders in his ‘army’ even though his ideas win the battles…
It’s pretty good and the end gets a bit surreal… And it sets it up for some really cool other books to go along.
They re-covered it and put it in the kid’s book section for some reason that I can’t figure out. But it’s also in the fantasy/sci fi section.
