The Evemerist vs. Mythicist Position
The Evemerist Position:
"Evemerism represents the perspective that many of the gods and goddesses of antiquity had been real people, such as kings, queens and other heroes and legendary figures, to whose biographies were later added extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes."
vs.
The Mythicist Position:
"Mythicism represents the perspective that many gods, goddesses and other heroes and legendary figures said to possess extraordinary and/or supernatural attributes are not "real people" but are in fact mythological characters. Along with this view comes the recognition that many of these figures personify or symbolize natural phenomena, such as the sun, moon, stars, planets, constellations, etc., constituting what is called "Astrotheology." As a major example of the mythicist position, various biblical characters such as Adam and Eve, Satan, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King David, Solomon & Jesus Christ, among other figures, in reality represent mythological characters along the same lines as the Egyptian, Sumerian, Phoenician, Indian, Greek, Roman and other godmen, who are all presently accepted as myths, rather than historical figures."
and your question is……………..

Lots of verbiage, but it seems that you are asking if characters mentioned in Christianity are derived from characters in earlier religions. Of course, the main tenets and stories of Christianity are obviously copied from different religions that preceded it. All religions are derivative.
Religion: The Misinterpretation of Ancient Mythology?
"Religion: the Misinterpretation of Ancient Mythology
All of the major religions are based on an ancient Astrotheology that employed metaphors and mythology to descibe the cosmos and various astronomical phenomena. The ancient astrotheology began in the Upper Paleolithic and it spread with the migrations of humankind throughout the world. The beliefs of the ancient astrotheology were originally relatively consistent throughout the various human cultures of the world, but regional variations developed that became the major religions.
Gradually, people everywhere forgot the original meaning of the metaphors and mythologies of the ancient astrotheology, and they now interpret those metaphors and mythologies in ways that show no comprehension of the original meaning. Jesus Christ/Yeshe Krishna is obviously the sun god, but many modern Christians and Hindus believe that Christ/Krishna was once a real person who walked the earth.
Not realizing that their interpretation of their own religion’s mythology is a false interpretation, people hold superstitions, prejudices, and erroneous world-views based on their misinterpretations of their own religion’s mythology. For example, many Christians believe that no one can attain ‘Salvation’ without accepting Jesus Christ (the mythological sun god) as their ‘Personal Savior’.
In the cycle of the Precession of the Equinoxes, it takes seventy-two years for the Equinoxes to precess backward one degree of the three hundred and sixty degrees of the ecliptic, the path of the sun. That is the astrotheological meaning of the ’seventy-two virgins’ that the Islamic hero recieves in Paradise.
The sun god Jesus Christ ‘walked on water’ because the people of the ancient world saw the ecliptic, the path of the sun, as an interface between the cosmic sky and the cosmic sea. Greek mythology described the personified constellation of Orion, which is bisected at the waist by the ecliptic, as walking in the ocean up to his waist, with his upper body in the sky.
Throughout history wars, persecutions, and oppression have been perpetrated as a result of the misinterpretation of mythology. All of the recieved literatures of the major religions contain some philosophical content that provides ethical advice for human affairs. The philosophical traditions of the major religions may be appreciated without accepting the mythological traditions. One can appreciate the philosophies of the "Sermon on the Mount" or of the Bhagavad Gita without believing that Jesus Christ or Yeshe Krishna ever lived on earth or anywhere else.
Religious believers who interpret mythology as the literal truth have failed to understand the metaphors of the original astrotheology that composed the myths. As a result, the believers of misconstrued mythologies maintain a world-view that perpetuates fantasies, superstitions, and prejudices based on a misinterpretation of the ancient mythologies.
The mythological content of the traditional religions should correctly be interpreted as ancient astrotheology — not as the literal truth of gods, supermen, and theriomorphs. Nor are the mythologies an embellished history of real people and their exploits. The records and artworks of the ancient mythologies can provide scholars with insights into the ancient astrotheology, but the literal interpretation of mythology is irrational and dangerous."

Glad I’m not the only one who has heard of astrotheology.
What is Astrotheology?
Astrotheology is the study of the astrological origins of religion; how gods, godessess, and demons are personifications of astrological phenomena such as lunar elipses, planetary alignments, and apparent interactions of planetary bodies with stars. Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, and the ancient Egyptian religions are examples of faiths claimed to be derived from observations of the bodies on the celestial sphere. Examples of deities said to be created as astrological allegories include Yahweh, Ra, Horus, Osiris, Mithras, Zoroaster, Helios, Apollo, Lugh, and Quetzalcoatl.
The term astro-theology is used in the context of 18th to 19th century scholarship aiming at the discovery of the original religion, particularly primitive monotheism. In contradistinction to astrolatry, which unambiguously implies a polytheism frowned upon as idolatrous by Christian authors since Eusebius, astrotheology is any "religious system founded upon the observation of the heavens",and as such may include monotheism.
This refers to the worship of stars and other heavenly bodies as deities, or the association of deities with heavenly bodies. The most common instances of this are sun gods and moon gods in polytheistic systems worldwide. Also notable is the association of the planets with deities in Babylonian, and hence in Greco-Roman religion, viz. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. The term astro-theology appears in the title of a 1714 work by William Derham, Astro-theology: or, A demonstration of the being and attributes of God, from a survey of the heavens based on the author’s observations by means of "Mr. Huygens’ Glass”.

The Least: No it was a question. I’m providing additional detail to show what I’m asking in length.
blacksho89: The question – " Is Religion the Misinterpretation of Ancient Mythology?"
I agree with your statement that wasn’t a question.

This has been passe for about 30 years now, since the updating and revisionist view of Fraser’s Golden Bough as acomplished by Rene Girard.

Most Americans hip to Easter’s real meaning?
‘the true knowledge has become abundant in the time of the end.’—Daniel 12:4.

"thank you ISHTAR BUNNY!" HEHEHE….Fertility cults of mystery Babylon Yeah babble on, and ON the subject of some one else profiting from your ignorance.
What does The fertility rights of Rabbits, Colored Eggs, Ishtar Bonnets…have to do with our Lord and King Jesus Christ?
What is the origin of Easter and the customs associated with it?
The Encyclopædia Britannica comments: “There is no indication of the observance of the Easter festival in the New Testament, or in the writings of the apostolic Fathers. The sanctity of special times was an idea absent from the minds of the first Christians.”—(1910), Vol. VIII, p. 828.
The Catholic Encyclopedia tells us: “A great many pagan customs, celebrating the return of spring, gravitated to Easter. The egg is the emblem of the germinating life of early spring. . . . The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility.”—(1913), Vol. V, p. 227.
In the book The Two Babylons, by Alexander Hislop, we read: “What means the term Easter itself? It is not a Christian name. It bears its Chaldean origin on its very forehead. Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven, whose name, . . . as found by Layard on the Assyrian monuments, is Ishtar. . . . Such is the history of Easter. The popular observances that still attend the period of its celebration amply confirm the testimony of history as to its Babylonian character. The hot cross buns of Good Friday, and the dyed eggs of Pasch or Easter Sunday, figured in the Chaldean rites just as they do now.”—(New York, 1943), pp. 103, 107, 108; compare Jeremiah 7:18.

May i Pwn "god" and religion please?
First heaven if you look in a dictionary or have read any books on astronomy is known as space… so good luck getting there.
second Lucifer is the planet venus, the morning star, i wont go into much detail you can look it up… but it was known as lucifer in babylon and rome. this would be the reason why lucifer was a beautiful angel because he was the planet of beauty… venus.
Third, Jesus had no historicity what so ever outside of the bible… and when we look into astrology and astral or Astrotheology we see the jesus was nothing more than an allegorical sun deity-(check the web if interested also some good books are:
Who was Jesus: Finger Prints of Christ- D.M. Murdock (aka Acharya S)
Suns of God: Krishna, Buddha, and Christ unveiled- Acharya S
The Christ Conspiracy: Acharya S
Christ In Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection-D.M. Murdock
The Worlds Sixteen Crucified Saviors-Kersey Graves
Jesus Christ Sun of God: Ancient Cosmology and Early Christian Symbolism-David Fideler
fourth- god was in pagan times thought of as a male in the sky, because the rain was thought to have been semen from god which fertilized mother earth.
fifth- hell was known as the underworld, which was literally underneath mother earth in ancient times, we now know the earth is not flat, therefore no hell. you can also research this.
sixth- hypothetically if god were real and he gave us commandments to keep, why would he then brake them?
COMMANDMENT #6) Thou shall not kill- "God" killed over 2 million people in the bible that are known of, however it is estimated that he killed close to 33 million people.=PWNED.
COMMANDMENT #7) Thou shall not commit adultery- "God" forced Mary to commit adultery with Joseph (even though they were not married yet, "God" knew they would be, you dont do that man), when he impregnated her, with jesus.= PWNED, and a rapist.
COMMADNMENT #8) Thou shall not steal- Most of "God’s" fairy tales in the bible, came from other civilizations, thousands of years older than xtianity. Not to mention, jesus’ birthday, is on the same day as like what, 10 other gods i believe.= EPICLY PWNED.
COMMANDMENT #10) Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife- As mentioned earlier, "God" nailed Mary, and even though he knew they were not married yet, since he is an all knowing being, he knew they would have gotten married, what a dick.= PWNED.
In closing, your god is false and not of original thoughts, he was created by man, to control and manipulate the masses.
have i successfully pwned said "god"?
wild thang- the commandments part is from my first account (atheistic astrologer). but it got deleted, these are my words.
OHHHHHHHHH SNAP
That shit was like hooked on phonics for debunking christianity
Very nice I don’t think it’ll help tho. a religious person reading that is like a kid discovering his parents putting presents under the tree and he still believes in santa. You can’t reason with normalized insanity NO MATTER HOW BLATANTLY YOU PUT IT.
Do you agree that Jesus = Horus?
Why is it not obvious to people that Jesus is simply the continuation of the Egyptian god Horus, respun for Jews via Old Testament exegesis? Even the birth story is straight out of Astrotheology. Revelation is also obviously astrotheological.
Most historians will not admit this, but, most historians are Christians, so I wouldn’t expect them to be unbiased on this point. They start with the assumption Jesus was god incarnate and go from there, so of course they are never going to reach the straightforward conclusion.
This knowledge has existed for well over a 100 years, long before the Zeitgeist movie began to popularize it.
Let’s see:
