Glenn Beck has failed to respond to a firestorm of reaction to his comments made during a February 21st interview with USA Weekend magazine in which he completely reversed his position on climate change by revealing that he believed in man-made global warming.
As we reported earlier this week, Beck appeared to stab his conservative audience in the back when he told USA Weekend magazine that man-made climate change was occurring in an article entitled Dont judge Beck by his cover.
In the article, Beck tells interviewer Dennis McCafferty, Youd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change.
He also says theres a legit case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind, writes McCafferty, under the sub headline, He believes in global warming.
The blogosphere is on fire with reaction to McCaffertys USA Weekend piece, according to World Net Dailys Chelsea Schilling, who pointed out that posters on the prominent conservative forum Free Republic were furious at Beck for seemingly performing a huge flip-flop on the issue.
Seems like the rose-colored glasses are beginning to fall off those who used to view Mr. Beck with good approval? wrote one.
OK, final straw for Beck with me, added another.
When an unflattering quote comes out about someone, anyone, they all say, I was misquoted. Everyone does it. The people who were actually misquoted take legal action if a retraction/correction isnt printed. In fact, thats why newspapers print retractions/corrections. If Beck doesnt sue USA Weekend, then it tells me his protestations ring hollow, writes another.
Other respondents said they thought the article was a hit piece and that Becks comments on global warming had been misreported. However, Becks reaction to the controversy suggests otherwise.
Following the outcry, Beck responded by accusing McCafferty of inventing four of the ten things attributed to him in the article, but since Beck made no mention whatsoever of it, we can only assume that his global warming comment wasnt one of them.
Beck had plenty of criticism of the USA Weekend story he didnt raise any objections to the articles portrayal of his environmental views, remarks Mother Joness Kate Sheppard.
Since Beck changes his tune every time the wind blows (he was for the bailout before he was against it), we can only assume that increasing suspicion from conservatives over his global warming comments will force Beck to back peddle and issue some form of retraction.
However, for some this will only confirm the fact that Beck is a shill and a performing circus clown who cries on cue while hoodwinking millions of conservatives into supporting policies which represent the antithesis of true conservatism, like a national sales tax (an idea also embraced by Nancy Pelosi), while attacking people who espouse real conservative principles without constantly flip-flopping, like Congressman Ron Paul and his supporters, who he smeared as potential terrorists.

The Real Cause of Celiac Disease. Medical Papers Wrapped Up in the Symptoms.the Truth Behind This Debilitating Disease is Much Simpler & Scarier
The REAL Cause of Celiac Disease
The information at the end of this article relates to the current known physiology of how people ‘acquire’ the celiac disease (CD). The two sources clearly indicate that while specialists know that gluten causes the disease and the effects of the disease, there is no consensus on WHY celiac diseases exists in the first place.
One of the best speculation that I have found is from a book called The Gluten Connection by Dr Shari Lieberman. While this book is a fantastic source of technical medical information it also bravely attempts to uncover the origins of the disease. Although the statistics are often US based, they translate well to other countries. The book states that: “In general populations of Western Europe CD ranges from 0.5 to 1.26%. A 2001 report showed that in the UK the rate of CD was 1 in 112 people, in Finland 1 in 130, in Italy 1 in 184 and the Sahara had 1 in 70!”
Dr Shari talks of a time before celiac disease (symptoms of) seemed to exist. A time when meat, vegetables and grain were predominantly free from man-made toxins, preservatives and the like. She discusses how many of our foods have been modified with the result that while the general population has a CD rate of 1%, that up to 29% may be gluten sensitive. The genetic predisposition of the disease is such that having a first degree relative with CD increases your odds of having CD to 1 out of 22, and a second degree relative to 1 in 39.
Essentially it is suggested that while the human genome has remained unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years, the Industrial Revolution massively accelerated the amount of grain in our diet (as opposed to the traditional carbohydrate load from nuts and berries). Of course this was necessary to feed to rapidly increasing population that were gathering in high density cities, but we did not evolve as swiftly to cope with the gluten overload.
Add to the change in lifestyle the change in grain ‘roller milling’ process (invented in 1873) which changed our diet from whole grains to refined flour, add the convenience of packaged food with increased grains products, the rise of cereal breakfasts and our overload was well under way. Consider that even since 1967 the US per capita gluten grains consumption has increased from 115 pounds to 139 pounds.
“Gluten is used in the manufacturing of virtually all boxed, packaged and canned processed foods to created textures that are more palatable to our taste buds, or it is used as binders, thickeners, and coatings. It is even used as glue on envelopes and stamps.” So maybe there is more to the George Costanza story than meets the eye … but I digress.
WHAT you really need to think about is the next paragraph:
” … bioengineers continually work to improve gluten and make it a larger and more potent part of edible grains. It is estimated that today’s wheat contains nearly 90 percent more gluten than wheat did from a century ago!”
In my general diet readings I have seen how many experts believe the increased use of processed food components such as refined sugars and even the overuse of salt has cause many health issues. Imagine if over refined grains were removed from the majority of manufactured foods and wild seed banks were used to grow grains with their original levels of gluten. Imagine if wholemeal flours were used more often and a non toxic replacement for gluten (with glutens binding properties) was found and used in our foods? Would we then see a fall in CD rates amongst our youth?
The point is that conspiracy theories aside, large food corporations are profit driven and look for the most cost effective solution. This is often at the expense of long term health effects, assuming they have this knowledge in the first place. If you are reading this and you have celiac disease, it probably means that you were predisposed towards it, have acquired it and can’t go back to eating any form of gluten. But at least now maybe you have one possible view as to how and why you got it.
While the conclusions drawn above are completely speculative it makes intuitive sense that too much of anything, particularly things you don’t know you are ingesting, can be a bad thing. Natural is almost always better and if you have CD but your child doesn’t have it yet, perhaps you could consider letting them eat low gluten grains rather than ‘eating just anything or abstaining completely’. Its worth a try?

Resulting tissue toxicity produces rapid cell turnover, increases epithelial lymphocytes, and damages surface epithelium of the small bowel. Celiac disease affects 1 of every 133 people in the United States and results from environmental factors and a genetic predisposition, but the exact mechanism is unknown. A strong association exists between the disease and two human leukocyte antigen haplotypes, DR3 and DQw2. It may also be autoimmune in nature. It affects twice as many females as males and occurs more commonly among relatives, especially siblings. Hells Angels are Being Exterminated
There’s a singularly pleasing short story called “The Screwfly Solution” which first appeared in 1977. It’s a science fiction short story by Alice Sheldon writing under the pseudonym of Raccoona Sheldon and it explores one of the ways in which an alien realtor might clear the Earth of the pestiferous humans so that the prime land can be sold on to waiting clients. Essentially, it involves changing human mating habits so that the human race stops reproducing and dies out. We can all smile at stories like this because, once you introduce aliens into the plot, everyone knows this is fiction. The more interesting phenomena are the urban myths and conspiracy theories. These have just enough factual connection to the real world to allow people to suspend disbelief and consider for a moment that they might actually be true. So, in the spirit of truthfulness and honesty for which I am justly famous, I’m going to give you the inside story behind the plot to wipe out the Hells Angels. As you probably know, Federal Government considers this to be a criminal organization specializing in drug dealing, extortion, trafficking in stolen goods, etc. But there’s a real problem for the FBI and other law enforcement agencies. These guys are continuously on the move. It’s not as if you can set up surveillance, tap into telephone lines and do all the stuff you see in TV programs and movies. Trying to get undercover officers inside the organization has also proved difficult. The Feds therefore hit on the obvious solution. If you can’t collect evidence to put them all in jail, you wipe them out. Most of the Angles ride Harley-Davidsons. This is their weakness. Undercover officers have infiltrated the manufacturing facilities and have modified all motorcycles to produce impotence. This plot has only recently been uncovered. It’s one of those unfortunate accidents of fate. Japanese scientists have been researching the higher rates of erectile dysfunction among motorcycle users and they discovered that the engines of cycles made in the US have been modified to produce vibrations at the frequency range most likely to cause nerve damage. Even more insidiously, these vibrations affect the production of hormones needed to ensure the prostate and bladders remain healthy. There’s also evidence that seat design has been adjusted so there’s pressure on the perineum to reduce the flow of blood through the artery into the penis. Around 75% of riders between 40 and 49 years, and 93% of those who are 50 years and older reported severe erectile dysfunction. Naturally, there’s been a significant increase in the use of viagra among Hells Angels as they fight to keep the juices flowing.
