However, since I have heard and read about the Mayan calendar for years, what kind of freaks me out is the fact that according to Scientific American and other journals state that somewhere around 2012 the Ross Ice Shelf will break off and form the largest ice berg in modern history. About 1500 sq. mi. in diameter and two miles thick. By the time it melts all the rivers and oceans in the world will rise somewhere between 47 and 51 feet, thereby wiping out most of the world’s population. In my opinion with all the unrest in the world today, it can’t be too soon.

As information becomes more and more availabe and people can research ancient religions, Astrotheology and reasons for Rationalism/atheism it is going to squeeze out belief in superstitious and emotional belief in a myth.

I was recently assigned a research paper which can be over any topic. I was thinking of doing it over something interesting like Secret Societies. The only thing is, if they’re secret how hard would it be to research them? I have a neighbor who is a Mason and I was thinking of asking him for an interview but would he take offence to that? Should I just find a different topic?

There are many books that you can reference if you want to write about the Society of Freemasons. Go to the library and enter it in as a keyword.
As to the neighbor, he would probably be pleased to talk to you about Freemasonry, as long as you realize that there will be some aspects of his society that he will not be free to talk about.
